Best Mop for Wood Floors

Mop

Everyone knows that you cannot vacuum wood floors. Well, you can, but there is really no point because you will never get all of the dirt. A far better option is to mop it. Mopping ensures you get all of the dirt and that you end up with a squeaky clean floor. Below are some of the best mop for wood floors.

Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop

Depending on how deep of a clean you need, you can choose from low, medium, or high steam options. Whether you have wood, laminate, tile, or any other kind of hard floor, this mop is safe to use on all of them. Unlike other mops which use soap with harsh chemicals, the Bissell PowerFresh uses nothing but water. Not only does this save you money, it also keeps your floor safe and protected from possibly corrosive chemicals.

Pros

When you buy the Bissell PowerFresh, 2 Febreze spring breeze fragrance discs are included. This will give your home a nice fresh, clean smell. The Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop is also considered by many to be the best mop for wood floors.

Cons

This steam mop comes with a great warranty plan, unfortunately it is only good for 2 years. However, 2 years is still better than nothing.

18″ Professional Microfiber Mop

The stainless steel handle adds to the durability of this mop and maximizes its lifespan. Since the mop head is machine washable, a single pad can last you hundreds of cleanings, saving you big bucks. The microfiber mop pad clean better than your standard cotton mop and lifts away spills and messes in no time. The mop head, encased in a heavy duty aluminum frame, swivels 360 degrees. This makes it easy to get to all those tough to reach places.

Pros

I love that this mop is so big. 19 inches doesn’t sound like a lot at first, but when you realize most other comparable mops are around a foot wide, this mop suddenly looks like a lean, mean cleaning machine.

Cons

When you wash the microfiber pad, if you wash it with other clothes or towels you may find the lint makes the microfiber less effective. The simple solution to this is to simply wash the microfiber pad alone to maximize its lifespan.

All you have to do is spray the water where you need it and go over it a couple times.

Pros

This mop from Bona is Greenguard certified, which means it is non toxic and safe for use around pets and children.

Cons

I have heard some people say the top part can be hard to attach, but I have not had this problem. It usually solves itself as well after you attach and detach it a couple of times.

Black Diamond Wood & Laminate Floor Cleaner

This cleaner comes with a hypoallergenic formula, so you can clean without worrying about an allergy flare up. It is also safe to use around kids, pets, workplaces, and is safe for the environment and totally biodegradable. The special triple action poly shield in the formula is what gives you a streak free final product and keeps soil from sticking to your floor. To use this mop and cleaner all you have to do is spray the water based formula on the ground and then go over it with the mop, no rinsing or anything.

Pros

This mop is great for all hard floors, whether it be wood, or tile, or marble.

Cons

The only downside is that it is not a steam mop. This isn’t a big deal since it still works great, I just prefer steam mops.

O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop

The foot activated spinning wringer makes it easy to get the perfect amount of water on the mop. The microfiber mop head cuts through messes quicker and more thoroughly than your normal cotton mop. The built in splash guard helps keep all the water in the bucket and not all over your legs and feet. This mop is safe for all floors, so you don’t have to worry about doing any damage to your floor.

Pros

Depending on your needs, you can use this mop wet or dry. Using it wet will give you a deeper clean, whereas using it dry is good for dusting.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are no mop head refills included when you buy it. However, the mop head is machine washable and rarely has to be replaced.
