Even if I adore my pets, I hate their hair, and most people I know feel the same. As frustrating and time-consuming cleaning it up may seem, you can’t skip this step, not in case you want to keep your house clean and to maintain your health.

Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away TruePet Upright Vacuum
This is a full-sized 2-in-1 powered lift-away upright vacuum with a detachable canister, LED lights, fingertip controls, anti-allergen technology, a HEPA filter, a True Floor Hero attachment, and a TruePet Motorized Brush. This is definitely one of the best vacuums that I’ve tried. Just take a closer look at its most important features:
The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away includes fingertip controls on its handle, and these will allow you to switch effortlessly from bare floors to carpets and back again. LED lights positioned on the handle and nozzle are extremely useful for navigating in darker corners of your house and under your furniture. I for one was amazed by how much hair, dirt, and dust I’ve been missing all this time. Shark’s Dynamic Swivel Steering technology also offers excellent control when you maneuver it around furniture and other obstacles.
The Anti-allergen Complete Seal Technology + HEPA on the Shark Rotator’s are essential for preventing all kinds of allergens from escaping back into the air before they reach the HEPA filter. This vacuum can trap 99.9% of allergens inside it due to its combined foam filters. Your friends with allergies will finally be able to come visit you again, if you get this vacuum, I can guarantee you that. I think this vacuum is one of the best bagless options available on the market.
Bissell CleanView Bagless Upright Vacuum
The vacuum from Bissell uses a OnePass Technology and includes a TurboBrush Tool, a 25-foot power cord, a Bottom Easy Empty Dirt Tank, and a Washable Foam Tank Filter. Its Multi-level filtration helps to reduce household allergens, and its Cyclonic System will provide long-lasting, powerful suction and a lightweight design. Check out the features that impressed us the most:
The OnePass Technology provides powerful nonstop suction and an innovative brush design for cleaning more on the initial pass. The Cyclonic system will make sure you’ll get long-lasting and powerful suction together with a lightweight design. This tool will turn out to be ideal for furniture, stairs, upholstery and much more.
After testing the TurboBrush Tool myself, I can tell you that the Bissell vacuum did a fantastic job at picking up the sand, dust and my pets’ hair as well. In case I haven’t mentioned it yet, I have a dog and a cat, so you can imagine the struggle! I can tell you that I find it to be a bit better than the Shark vacuum that I’ve described above.
Shark Rocket TruePet Ultra-Light Upright Corded Vacuum
Weighing under 9 pounds, this ultra-lightweight upright vacuum will easily convert into a hand vacuum for versatile floor-to-ceiling cleaning. It comes equipped with some powerful LED lights on the hand vacuum and nozzle, and it has twice the dust cup capacity of the original model. It also comes with the TruePet Motorized Brush for deep cleaning and the Dust-Away hard floor attachment for picking up all the debris of various sizes and dust from your bare floors. I was extremely impressed by this vacuum and especially by its following features:
This vacuum deep cleans all hard floors and carpets, and the coolest thing is that it does so without any loss of power or suction. The Dust-Away Hard Floor Attachment on the Shark Rocket TruePet is helpful and tough enough for larger crumbs and debris, but at the same time, it’s gentle enough for the most delicate dusting on hard-floor surfaces. The powerful LED lights on the hand vacuum and nozzle will help illuminate your working area and this way you will be able to spot any hidden debris easily.
You can easily transition into a handheld vacuum which will allow you to clean the floors above and the stairs and furniture as well. My initial test was on laminate and etched concrete, and all the dust disappeared effortlessly, and I didn’t even have to go over the spots again. It managed to get all the doggie and cat coat immediately real fast and easy. I even ran it over my dog’s bed, and it cleaned the soft surface in a second, so I really believe that this one’s a keeper.
Bissell 1650A Pet Hair Eraser Vacuum
Well, you can say goodbye to hair-wrap due to this Bissell model of vacuum and its tangle free brush roll. It features a Patented Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System for a hands-free empty, and it includes specialized pet tools with a quick release wand to capture pet hair from anywhere.
The LED-lit crevice tools will uncover hidden dirt, and the Pet TurboEraser Tool removes embedded hair from carpets and upholstery. Its Smart Seal Allergen System with Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator helps trap allergens inside the vacuum and eliminates pet odors as you vacuum. Check out what impressed me the most while testing this vacuum:
The Bissell 1650A Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System is a patented internal hair-management system that traps and separates human and pet hair from dirt. It also manages to spool the hair together for a hands-free emptying process. The SmartSeal Allergen System helps capture and also hold dust and allergens inside the vacuum and prevents them from escaping back into the air.
While most vacuums only use suction on one side of the brush roll, the Bissell 1650A SuctionChannel Technology for Edge-to-Edge Technology creates a direct suction path for a powerful edge-to-edge suction that will maximize the pickup of all pet hair. The built-in Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator filter can eliminate odor, and it will freshen up the air while you’re vacuuming. Nothing puts a vacuum to test the way a home with pets does, and the Bissell pet hair eraser was developed specifically for pet parents as it’s doing a great job.
ECOVACS DEEBOT N78 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
The Robotic’s vacuum tangle free powerful suction picks up hair, dirt, and debris quickly and its long-lasting battery offers up to 110 minutes of cleaning time. It features a high0efficiency filtration system that will reduce airborne contributors associated with asthma and allergies. The smart infrared sensors are equipped in such a way to avoid furniture and stairs, and this makes the robot vacuum work between various types of floors. It also climbs and crosses doorsills quickly.
Check out the most impressive of its features below:
The DN78 features three cleaning modes you can choose from for effectively cleaning up almost any possible mess: AUTO Cleaning Mode for everyday cleaning, Spot Cleaning Mode, for a small area of highly concentrated dirt or dust, and Edge Cleaning Mode, for cleaning edges and corners.
The vacuum comes equipped with three groups of Anti-Drop Sensors, and it can detect a drop-off larger than 3.1 inches. So, relax as the DN78 can clean up around the stairs without the risk of falling. It can move safely around your home using smart Anti-Collision Sensors to detect objects that come in its path, and it can also navigate around them for an uninterrupted cleaning.
When the battery power gets low, the cleaning robot device receives a signal from its charging dock, and it automatically returns for charging. How cool is that? You can also conveniently program, start, pause and manage the direction of your robot cleaner from a distance. You’ll never have to come home to dirty floors again if you go for this one!
Dirt Devil Razor Pet Steerable Bagless Upright Vacuum
The Dirt Devil Razor Vac Pet upright is a sturdy lightweight and easy-to-use vacuum for pets’ hair from all over your house. It features a removable cleaning wand and 10ft extended reach hose. It comes with a spin4pro premium brush roll, and it has quite a low profile design. Here are its most impressive features:
The Dirt Devil Razor Vac Pet features a low profile design so it can steer around and under your furniture with minimum efforts. The SPIN4PRO premium pet brush roll is designed and optimized to efficiently clean and remove all pet hair on both hard floors and carpets. The Dirt Devil Razor has a pretty cool feature named TurboClaw pet tool to clean places harder to reach. All you have to do is detach the 10 ft. cleaning wand and attach the Turboclaw Pet Tool to clean hard to reach places such as stairs and ceiling. The fact that there’s also no loss of suction means that you’ll get a robust cleaning process anywhere in your home.
The advanced filtration system makes sure that your vacuum is running better and longer with a while less maintenance. From the moment you get the vacuum out of its box, you’ll see that it is very user-friendly. It also comes with a note on the flap of the box which tells you how to take care of your vacuum in very simple steps, and you won’t have to do much to keep the filter clean. This one was one of the most user-friendly vacuums I have tried in a very long time. I didn’t have to buy any bags or filters because I could just rinse and clean out its own and keep reusing them over and over.
Bissell 9595A CleanView Bagless Vacuum with OnePass
The vacuum promises to offer fast and easy cleaning with powerful suction, and for this, it provides an innovative brush design that should clean more. It also features a Cyclonic System for powerful and long-lasting suction and a Turbo Brush tool for the stairs, furniture and more. It provides Multi-Level Filtration and a washable foam tank filter. Its most notable features include the following:
The vacuum is easy to push and carry without sacrificing power and it comes with a large easy empty dirt bin so you’ll spend less time emptying while cleaning. Compared to the other vacuum that I tested this one was not as satisfying, and it also makes a huge amount of noise. I wouldn’t recommend this model if you want to get the best quality possible in a vacuum for pet hair as it’s not able to do the job flawlessly.
Hoover Vacuum Cleaner T-Series Upright Vacuum UH70210
And finally this is the last vacuum that I tested, and it’s under 18 pounds, really light and easy to use with thorough cleaning power. It comes with five-position carpet height adjustment, and you can adjust it as needed to clean various flooring types easily and efficiently.
Its Folding Handle will make storage a snap as it’s ideal for small storage spaces. The Hover UH70210 has a feature where you can gently tap the pedal to activate the 25-Foot Cord Rewind and retract the cord to store neatly inside. The UH70210 includes an Air-Powered Pet Hand Tool to quickly dispose of pet hair from floors, Pet Upholstery Tool to remove pet hair from furniture, a 12-inch Extension Wand and a Crevice tool for tight spots.
What I hated about this one is that it comes with a belt which broke two weeks after I bought the device and it seems to be a hassle to find another replacement. It’s also much heavier and louder than most vacuums I’ve tested before it, and its cord is not as long as I needed it to be. That’s why I had to unplug it in every room to be able to finish vacuuming. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this model compared to the other ones above even if it has a good reputation.
I firmly believe the best vacuum for pet hair is the Shark Rocket TruePet Upright Vacuum. This lightweight Shark Rocket definitely has superior maneuverability and it was also a wise ergonomic choice as it takes just a small storage space. Its suction power won especially on the carpets, and it also has an animal attachment that sucks hair and other sticky things from the rugs. I can assure you that using the Shark Rocket vacuum instead of your old traditional one will feel like switching from an old-school flip phone to a next-gen smartphone.
Factors to consider before buying a vacuum for pet hair
The first thing you should consider before purchasing a vacuum for pet hair is how big is the home/space you’ll be vacuuming. For a big house, you’ll have to consider a big vacuum that can cover lots of ground with a large dirt capacity, but for a smaller place such an apartment, smaller models with a minimal dirt capacity will do the job.
The second essential thing to consider is the surface you are going to vacuum because this will shape your buying decision as different vacuums are appropriate for different surfaces. For instance, if your whole house has hardwood floors or if it’s carpeted, you have to get a vacuum specialized for that particular medium. The best vacuum cleaner for pet hair is usually an all grounder which can tackle a variety of surfaces.
A third consideration revolves around your preferences: do you prefer an upright, a handheld or a canister? You should know that vertical ones are best suited for larger spaces and handheld vacuums and canisters are perfect for a smaller place.
Other factors you should consider before buying a vacuum for pet hair include the decision whether you prefer a bagged or a bagless model, a corded or a cordless one, and last but not least, you should decide how much you’re willing to spend.
